Police: Man breaks into home, shoots self in head | Crime

Albuquerque police are investigating a man found with a fatal gunshot to the head inside a home Tuesday on Florida Street NE.

Officers were dispatched to the area near Menaul Boulevard and Louisiana Boulevard NE after a resident reported seeing someone climbing into the window of a neighbor's house.

Police say they contacted the homeowner who said no one should have been in the house at the time. Officers then set up a perimeter around the home and went inside after obtaining a key from the homeowner.

Officers found a man dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.  Police believe the victim is the man seen breaking into the home. 

The Office of the Medical Investigator will make a final determination on the cause of death.
